Secret Pal 5 Questionnaire

I hope my pal is a thoughtful one - because I put loads of thought (and time) into answering this questionnaire :)

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I wouldn't call myself a yarn snob. I can't afford many of the yarns that I covet. BUT - I don't like Red Heart at all, and I only use Lion Brand when I'm desperate for a fix. I definitely prefer natural fibers, acrylics make my skin crawl.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I am a spinner. My husband bought me an Ashford Traditional last October for my birthday. And I can crochet - but I don't do it often at all.

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
No allergies, but I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke or strong perfumes.

4. How long have you been knitting?
I learned to knit when I was 8, and knit off & on since then. It became an addiction about six years ago.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I do have an Amazon wishlist, but I don't update it very often. I don't know of any others...if Patternworks had one you KNOW i'd make one there.

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
VANILLA is my favorite. I love Warm Vanilla Sugar from Bath & Body Works. I also love milk-based soap, too. Nice clean smells. But I like other smells too. I'm not really picky.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
I do - but I'm trying very hard to make more healthy choices. It's up to you if you want to be the downfall of my efforts :)

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I love to try everything. I spin, play around with beads, I like to make cards & collages, I dabble in embroidery. I want to try bookbinding and basketmaking. Hubby thinks I have enough hobbies :)

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I love folky acoustic music. Current favorite is Iron & Wine. Coming in at a close second is Hem. Classic favorites of mine: Counting Crows, Lisa Loeb, Ben Folds, Nanci Griffith, James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel. I'm a music lover.

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I love yellow - paler than brighter. I love blues and greens. I love autumn shades.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my hubby in a small apartment. We have two kitties - Bella & Gimlee.

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
I want to be a good mother and have beautiful babies and be an excellent wife. I want to write a book. I want to have a YARN shop and a farm where I can raise sheep & alpacas, and mow the lawn, and smell the outdoors, and hang my clothes on a clothesline and see the stars at night. I want to live a more simple and more self-sufficient life. I want to be a happy presence in others lives.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I don't think I've discovered my favorite yet. But I love KPPPM, and and I love anything truly soft. I like variegated yarn, keeps the knitting interesting :)

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I absolutely do not like acrylic.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
I'm in a sock phase right now :) They're fun & easy to make and are great gifts. I would love to work on more sweaters - but each sweater seems like such a financial investment.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
EVERYTHING.

17. What are you knitting right now?
a pair of socks, a wrap from one issue of Knitty, i need to seam up a sweater for my hubby (was supposed to be done at Christmas).

18. What do you think about ponchos?
I like ponchos - I don't know how they'd look on me, though. I'm kind of round, and i have a feeling it would look more tent-like on me than it's supposed to.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
CIRCULAR. use them for everything, except when i use DPN's.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
not picky - but i have two addi turbo round needles and i LOVE them..

21. Are you a sock knitter?
Did I mention that I love knitting socks?

23. How old is your oldest UFO?
oh lord, don't ask me that. i think it would be hubby's sweater - started last october.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
I love all the Pixar movies. And I'm a TURTLE fanatic. And I'll take anything sheepy or alpaca-y. :)

25. What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas & Thanksgiving. I love presents and comfort food.

26. Is there anything that you collect?
I love pens. I wouldn't say I collect them, but I have a LOT of them and i keep buying new ones. I love stationery and I like to have a lot to choose from. I love writing letters (esp. with my new pens) :) I love books. I seem to be collecting yarn. :)

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
Currently none. I pick them all up when I'm out and about.

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
I love knitting books. I have a wicked weakness for them.
